National Weather Service's Highest Alert Level Issued for Area Including Oklahoma City

Tornado Touches Down, Emergency Warning Issued

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado emergency for parts of Oklahoma, including Oklahoma City. This is the highest alert level issued by the NWS and means that a violent tornado has touched down in the area.

The tornado emergency is in effect until 7:30 p.m. CST. Residents in the affected area are urged to take shelter immediately.

Tornado warnings are also in effect for other parts of Oklahoma, as well as parts of Kansas and Texas. A tornado warning means that a tornado has been spotted or is indicated by radar. Residents in the affected areas should be prepared to take shelter if a tornado warning is issued.
